SOHO Ampera
We were challanged to look beyond the stereotype of RUKAN or RUKO that has been around for decades. There must be something more than just doing a module or work around the façade in repetitive manner. Their treatment should not be skin deep and typical. Instead, it should provoke the idea of RUKAN as a unique entity other than just a commercial product.
At a same time, commercial buildings are contending for awareness. They need to be recognized (easily) and provide better reflection for the inhabitant, especially since they are at pedestrian scale.
The opportunity comes with the steep countour site that split the massing. But instead of constructing them into individual article, they are formed into 2 interlocking massing, with each having distinctive character. The solidness of the cornerblock is meant to be the focal point, while the lightness and linear form of the other block helps to soften the presence of the building.
